Work for Us.
Research on local peacebuilding for Insight on Conflict is carried out by Local Correspondents – people living in regions affected by conflict who are able to report in fair-minded way on the work of local peacebuilders.
Local Correspondents have a variety of different backgrounds, but all have contacts within the NGO or peacebuilding sector, and a strong interest in the media and communication, and excellent spoken and written English. Local Correspondents receive payment for work submitted to Insight on Conflict, though it is important to note that the payment is not a wage and the work is not full-time.
Over the next 18 months, we plan to expand the coverage of the Insight on Conflict website, to include many more conflict-affected regions. To do so, we will need more Local Correspondents. We therefore have potential work opportunities for people interested in the media and local peacebuilding or the NGO sector. The work is an ideal way to gain experience reporting on important conflict issues and will provide the opportunity to develop contacts in the peacebuilding sector.
At present, the regions that we are considering expanding to are the following:
- Tajikistan
- Chad
- Georgia
- Rwanda
- Somalia
- Yemen
- East Timor
- Central African Republic
- Chechnya
If you are resident in any of these regions and are interested in becoming a Local Correspondent, please email ruairi@peacedirect.org , explaining your background, experience and why you think you are suitable for the role.
