Turath Organisation for Human Development

This organisation helps resolve tribal resource conflicts, and conducts capacity building and education focusing on the role of women and youth.

Overview

Turath is a voluntary organisation with many objectives:

  • To disseminate the principle of human development between community members;
  • To help women develop their capacity;
  • To help youth in many ways and train them to face life's difficulties; and
  • Conflict resolution.

We implement many projects in different parts of several states. We have also started a new project on gender culture and women's development in our state.

What Services Are Provided?

  • Workshops on capacity building and conflict resolution;
  • Seminars on the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), looking at its principles and how people will benefit from this agreement, using simple language away from any legal idiom which is difficult to understand for uneducated people; and
  • Education programmes.

Geographical Area of Operation

Nuba mountains, Khartoum, Blue Nile, and southern Sudan

What Further Information Would You Like?

We would like to know other countries’ experiences of peace-building, such as how they implemented projects, and what challenges they have faced. We are looking for a website that will provide us with information on capacity-building and how to write project proposals, and how to send or receive e-mail.
