Srijansil Samaj Nepal (Creative Society Nepal)
An organisation committed to raising awareness of peaceful means of conflict resolution and providing support for Nepal's conflict victims.
Overview
Srijansil Samaj Nepal, based in Butwal, is working to raise people's awareness of peaceful means of resolving the ongoing armed conflict. The organisation provides rehabilitation services such as counselling and legal assistance to conflict victims, needy people and women who have not been able to pay their legal fees.
The organisation aims to:
- Raise people’s awareness of peace and human rights;
- Raise women’s awareness of their legal rights because many women victims of the conflict have been deprived of such rights;
- Support conflict victims; and
- Provide legal training.
Srijansil Samaj Nepal has mainly been running workshops and interaction programmes on peace and conflict issues in cooperation with some Kathmandu-based organisations. The organisation has been providing legal services free of charge, particularly to women conflict victims, as it believes that women are double victims in armed conflict due to their status in society, gender and other associated causes. Srijansil Samaj Nepal has also been providing rehabilitation such as counselling and legal services to conflict victims. The view of the organisation is that the internal armed conflict in Nepal should be resolved by peaceful means and it is necessary to have women's equal and participatory involvement in the peace process.
