Sharada Salyan Nepal

An organisation working on support and resettlement programmes for conflict victims in Nepal.

Overview

Sarada Salyan Nepal, based in Salyan district in mid-western Nepal, is an NGO working for peace and development. It has been working mainly for the resettlement of conflict victims.

The organisation aims to:

  • provide support for victims of the conflict;
  • conduct training on human rights and peace;
  • establish women’s groups to work on women’s issues in conflict areas;
  • provide income generation and skill training for the resettlement of conflict victims.

Since last year, Sharada Salyan Nepal has helped children affected by the conflict by providing them with books, clothes and tuition fees. The organisation has been working with the aim of 'children as a zone of peace' and believes that they should not be harmed by conflict. In addition to this, the organisation has formed women’s groups to work on women’s issues in conflict areas. The organisation has found that many civilians have been victimised by conflict, particularly women and children.

What Services Are Provided?

Sharada Salyan Nepal  provides informal education for child conflict victims before they enter school for formal education. The organisation then provides them with basic educational materials.  It also holds income generation training for women to aid economic stability.
