MAMAN (Human Security Initiative Organisation)

MAMAN's mission is to support human security in Sudan by adopting strategies that bring about social transformation towards protection of civilians, respect for human rights principles, rehabilitation and reintegration of combatants, and sustainable development.

Overview

The overall objective of the organisation is the protection and promotion of human security in Sudan. This will be achieved through supporting and directing programs, project research, and activating organisational capacity. The specific objectives of the organisation are fulfilled through acting on the following personal security issues:

  • Ending small arms proliferation and misuse;
  • Combating drugs trafficking and use;
  • Creating a culture of peace and conflict-resolution;
  • Stopping the use of children as soldiers;
  • Protection of human rights;
  • Combating the use of all kinds of chemical, biological and nuclear weapons; and
  • Mine clearance and eradication.


What Services Are Provided?

  • Training courses and workshops for students on website design and using internet programs;
  • Training courses on conflict resolution for Police Personnel;
  • Workshops on international law and human rights for civil society organisations; and
  • Training courses and workshops for the Police Force on human rights and implementation of law.


Geographical Area of Operation

Khartoum and Gadaref, east Sudan.
