Human Rights Without Frontiers, Nepal (HRWF Nepal)

HRWF Nepal is an NGO committed to promoting peace and human rights through training and building capacity and awareness, especially among vulnerable groups.

Overview

Human Rights Without Frontiers Nepal (HRWF) is a non-governmental, non-profit making, non-sectarian, non-religious organisation committed towards promoting peace. It works to protect people's rights and freedom by conducting various awareness-raising activities, and is dedicated to creating a culture in which human rights, democracy, the rule of law and peace prevail.

One of the aims of HRWF Nepal is to safeguard and improve the living standard of vulnerable groups who are at particularly high risk of being drawn into the conflict. The organisation has proposed a three-level strategy for implementation in the rural parts of Nepal:

HRWF Nepal has conducted extensive training to help end the conflict by focusing on reducing the socio-economic inequalities that prevails in Nepalese society. It has worked to improve the livelihood status of vulnerable minorities such as ex-Kamaiyas (bonded labourers), Dalits and landless people who are at particularly high risk of being drawn into the conflict.

Similarly, the organisation has campaigned to bring vulnerable groups into the mainstream by developing their sustainable livelihood skills. With the capacity to generate income and employment opportunities, they can empower themselves as well as improve their socio-economic wellbeing. This is intended to create an alternative means of mitigating conflict.

Through its campaigning, HWRF Nepal has successfully raised its target groups' awareness of the conflict’s causes and of appropriate means for addressing those causes. The organisation has empowered underprivileged communities and strengthened their capacity to organise themselves into groups.

HRWF has conducted the following training:
