Established in August 2001, Human Rights and Democratic Forum (FOHRID) is a non-governmental, non-profit making, non-political, independent, public interest organisation. It is registered at the District Administration Office, Kathmandu. FOHRID is a national level organisation formed by a committed interest group of human rights activists, development experts, lawyers, teachers and environmentalists.
FOHRID aims to establish a culture of peace and to advocate peaceful means of conflict management.
FOHRID is working to shape public opinion in favour of a ceasefire, peace talks and a constituent assembly. The organisation carries out peace campaigning and research on the conflict in Nepal and conducts training programmes for capacity building at the local level for conflict management and peacebuilding. It also organises workshops, conferences, and discussion programmes relating to conflict management at the national level. The organisation aims to conduct similar programmes at the international and regional (South Asia) level also.
Advocacy, education, training campaigns, networking, collaboration and capacity building on conflict management, strengthening the rule of law and the democratisation process.

The activities of FOHRID have been funded by CARE Nepal, CHA (Sri Lanka), ESP Nepal, DED Nepal, European Union etc.

Information on the latest developments in concepts and programmes, and upcoming events on the above issues will also be useful for the organization.
FOHRID would like to establish contact with national and international organisations working in the field of conflict management, peace, human rights, ending impunity and unlawful killings, democratisation and peacebuilding.
