Forum for Human Rights, Environment and People's Awareness (HUREP)

An organisation working with groups of local people in the Koshi zone of Nepal to raise awareness of social justice and promote peace throughout the wider community.

Overview

HUREP is a non-governmental and non-profit social development organisation. It mainly works in the development and social justice sectors, but has expanded into the peace sector due to the continuing impact of the armed conflict. The organisation has trained and mobilised different groups of local people to raise awareness in the district about social justice, human rights, peace, and the current peace process.

By working with these groups, HUREP aims:

  • To raise awareness and respect for social justice;
  • To establish a sustainable peace in the district;
  • To develop a culture of peace;
  • To develop working strategies for the post-conflict peace-building period; and
