Doboj ROTOR
This organisation stimulates economic growth in the Zenica Doboj region, creating tourism-building projects that unite people across ethnic and national lines. Through providing returned refugees and unemployed people with stable livelihoods, they aim to reduce the risk of conflict.
Overview
Our organisation aims to create sustainable economic development in the Doboj region. We also work on the protection and promotion of ecology and nature, and the preservation of heritage sites.
Tourism is a new and growing sector throughout Bosnia Herzegovina and there are numerous examples across the country of tourism-building projects uniting groups of people across ethnic and national lines, e.g. in Mostar, Drina, Banja Luka, Sarajevo and now here in Zenica Doboj region.
Why is this so? It has a lot to do with the Bosnian mentality and the will to show and share their wealth with others. Tourism offers jobs for many unemployed families, and is a way for returned refugees to find work and make money.
By creating an economically stable environment which allows people of all backgrounds to live and satisfy their basic needs we can reduce the risk of conflict. When various ethnicities work together to achieve better economic status in an environment which is multi-ethnic and peaceful, they will not fight against each other because they are in fear of losing their economic stability. At least that is the case here in Bosnia Herzegovina. When the economy is strong and stable, peace is strong and stable.

- Creation and development of a tourist strategy;
- Research and analysis about the market for tourism;
- Coordination with tourist firms and the municipalities;
- Cooperation with similar organisations in our country and abroad;
- Organisation of various sporting and educational competitions and fairs; and
- Protection of historic monuments etc.

We offer consulting in the areas of tourism development, marketing, and coordination of resources in municipalities and private companies.

Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and municipality of Doboj. Some of our activities have been sponsored by the local goverment and other ministries.
