Collective Campaign for Peace (COCAP)

This Nepali peacebuilding project unites 42 NGOs to mobilise volunteers to campaign for justice and human rights.

Overview

COCAP is a national network of peace and human rights NGOs in Nepal. It aims to provide a common space for its members and friends to collectively engage in the pursuit of peace, human rights and justice in Nepal.

COCAP envisions a peaceful Nepal that is economically prosperous and equitable, culturally plural, tolerant, and socially just, democratic and participatory. The mission of COCAP is to contribute to the promotion of a culture of peace and justice in Nepal through the mobilisation of a network of socially committed and financially transparent civil society actors. COCAP also seeks to undertake effective and coordinated initiatives for conflict transformation and peacebuilding.

COCAP advocates and campaigns for peace and democracy in Nepal. It has many volunteers working in the fields of peace and human rights. It successfully mobilises volunteers and these mobilisations are gaining popularity and getting coverage by many national newspapers and television channels. These mobilisations have focused on, for example, the documentation of human rights violations during conflict and the dissemination and distribution of this information. COCAP advocates for the establishment of peace and democracy and against all human rights violations, including violations during conflict.
