OPDS is a non-governmental body that works with displaced people and victims of violence in communities on the northern coast of Colombia, conducting development programmes in areas such as rights, HIV/AIDS, preventative and curative health, business development and vulnerable young people.
OPDS' main objective is to raise awareness of fundamental rights among the oppressed communities on the Colombian north coast by providing them with the necessary tools to protect and defend themselves at conciliation centres, and by running a legal office.
At the office, people's concerns are heard and they are given legal advice. This marks the beginning of a course of action taken to protect their rights, which progresses through meetings addressing rights and conciliation, with the ultimate goal of them becoming peacemakers themselves.
Training in peace culture and conciliation, human rights, fundamental rights, etc.
