The initiative includes the organisation of an awareness campaign on fundamental human rights and peace; mobilising the local community in sustaining peace; supporting income generation; and capacity building, especially for women and young people affected by conflict.
Women have been double victims of the conflict because of the gender bias in social status in Nepal, and youths are targeted for recruitment by the Maoist militias because of a lack of employment opportunities.
The organisation aims:
Training; income generation training for women conflict victims; educational support for child conflict victims; campaigning for peace by raising peoples' awareness of non-violent means of conflict transformation.
The organisation has established women's groups to address issues such as rehabilitation services for women affected by conflict. In addition, it has been working with children, providing them with informal education and then sending them to school for formal education, supporting them with basic educational materials. Many women and children have been victims of the conflict and the organisation believes that these conflict victims should be rehabilitated in order to establish lasting peace.
