Safe House for Women and Children

A safe house in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, for the protection of women and children. The safe house not only takes people in but also uses its experience to address the causes of abuse and violence in the community.

Sahaj Abhiyan (Peace Campaign)

A project to raise the voices of victims of Nepal's armed conflict, through counselling, advocacy and capacity building.

Serbian and Albanian Children Together in Breda

For this initiative a group of Serbian and Albanian children were taken on holiday, far from the fragile conflict-scarred region of Mitrovica. The idea was to connect youngsters from two ethnic groups who live close to each other but not with each other, in a city with lasting geographical and psychological divides created by the war.

Socially Responsible and Accountable Business Ventures

Through the establishment of socially responsible business ventures, Samadeepa have been able to create a stable source of funding for community service actions, as well as offering improved financial stability for the individuals and communities involved in Sri Lanka's Anuradhapura and Trincolmalee districts.

Social Mobilisation Programme

Since 2005 this Nepali initiative has focused on the development and training of Self Help Groups (SHGs). These groups run awareness raising campaigns to oppose discrimination and domestic violence, and to support non-violence and conflict mediation.

This initiative had a very successful outcome in reducing election violence and encouraging voters to behave in a peaceful and respectful manner towards one another. Staging drama performances in the areas that had previously been dangerous, at election time, enabled them to educate the communities of the need for responsible actions, from both the political parties and the voters themselves.

Strengthen youth commercial and experience sharing networks

This initiative aims to re-establish business connections between Sinhalese, Muslims and Tamils, thereby reducing fears each ethnicity has of the other and building trust. Participants are selected from interested young farmers, fishermen and small-business people in different areas. They receive training on how to strengthen a multi ethnic society through commerce.

Sudan Peacebuilding Programme

A programme of regular consultations between key stakeholders in the conflict, designed to facilitate agreement on points of difference and to explore informally the basis of a negotiated settlement.

Supporting Civil Society's Work for Peace

A series of initiatives to coordinate a number of organisations and cross-sections of civil society, working collectively towards the common goal of sustainable peace in Nepal.

Supporting the European Integration Process in Kosovo

This initiative aims to promote better knowledge of the EU and raise public awareness of European Integration and the need to meet EU membership conditions. It does this through strengthening the capacities of Kosovo Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) through encouraging sectoral partnerships, sustainable advocacy actions and EU/regional network involvement.

Supporting the National Focal Group and Inter-sector Commission

Through collaboration with governmental organisations, Fungamma have been successful in identifying the key issues surrounding firearms in Colombia, and have established a plan of action to help eradicate their transport, possession, and use.

Supporting the National Inter-Sectoral Commission

Gammar Idear supported Colombia's National Inter-Sectoral Commission in producing their report on the country's small arms situation for the UN Biennial Meeting of States.
