Campaign for Disappearance

The initiative aims to document human rights abuses and disappearences and to distribute the information to relevant parties within Nepal and internationally.

Description

The programme has been designed to publicise cases of disappearances in connection with the conflict and pressurise the parties involved to respect human rights and humanitarian laws. It has further aims of putting pressure on the conflicting parties for a peaceful resolution. 

Aims / Objectives

The organisation aims to:

  • publicise missing person cases in connection with the conflict; 
  • pressurise the conflicting parties to hold ceasefire and come to the peace agreement;
  • put pressure on the conflicting parties to respect human rights and humanitarian laws.

Report collection, publication, distribution, awareness raising related to disappearances, poster publication.

Achievements / Learning Points

HUDEP has been working to document and disseminate information regarding missing person cases in connection with the armed conflict in Nepal. It has established links with Office of the UNHCR.

HUDEP has published the following reports and posters highlighting disappearances:

  • report publication on disappearances (twice);
  • poster publication (twice);
  • submission of a report to the UN on disappearances.

The reports have been in high demand at national and international levels.
