Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF).
The Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF), through its support for local initiatives, aims to build a strong civil society movement which will promote a democratic culture and that will be responsive to the socio-economic needs of Kosovo.
The European Integration perspective for Kosovo has given KCSF a strong focus on issues related to the European Union (EU) framework for the Western Balkans known as the Stabilisation and Association Process. Through the newly established European Integration Initiative (EII), KCSF is committed to supporting the EU integration process.
To date KCSF has provided grants to over 270 projects, given 403 scholarships, delivered more than 100 basic and advanced training sessions, issued 15 publications and created more than 200 Alumni from the European Integration School.
Supporting the European Integration Process
The strategic goal of KCSF is to support Kosovo’s efforts in the EU integration process. As such responding to the Stabilisation and Association Process (SAP) and European Partnership requirements for Kosovo form the basis of their activities. This priority is achieved through a set of programmes based around providing information; education and research; advocacy and provision of analysis; and addressing the specific needs of Kosovo. The civil society initiative aims to strengthen the professional and institutional capacities of selected Kosovo Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to take an active part in the information, education and application of EU-related issues through encouraging sectoral partnerships, sustainable advocacy actions and EU/regional network involvement. The aims and objectives of this initiative are to enhance the knowledge of the local CSOs through capacity building and to present best practices to strengthen their role in society and increase their capacity for advocacy.
Kosovo School for European Integration
The Kosovo School for European Integration was founded in 2005 and specialises in teaching the historical, political and economic background of the EU, in order to develop the prospects for Kosovo to integrate into Europe and the surrounding region. The school teaches participants about the EU’s legislative framework, policies and policy processes, about Europe as a global player, and the prospect for the region and Kosovo of European integration.
