The Rabi’a al ‘Adawiyhah Society operates in Damazin and nearby villages in Blue Nile State, Sudan. Since 2006, they have run symposia and workshops on peacebuilding with local communties.

In their work, the Rabi’a al ‘Adawiyhah Society have at times had to challenge local traditions. For one example, when a local man tried to ban his wife from attending a workshop on peacebuilding, they decided to invite him along to observe. The man enjoyed the workshop so much that he even requested a men-only workshop be organised.

The Rabi’a al ‘Adawiyhah Society partner with the Organisation of Rural Women’s Development in their work.
