(November 2009): Education and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and Bosnia

The UNESCO Centre at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland focuses on the role of education for pluralism, democracy and human rights. They have produced many interesting reports in recent years, and have now released a report on the opinions of children and young people in Northern Ireland and Bosnia & Herzegovina on reconciliation in their respective education systems.

Based on in-depth interviews, the report shows a clear desire from the young people and children to understand the reasons for the conflicts in their country. The report includes many interesting quotes from the participants and is well worth reading, particularly for those interested in education reforms (specific recommendations are included at the end).
