The Social Awareness Concern Forum (SAC) aims to raise young people’s awareness of peace-related issues, and mobilise them to run campaigns in their own communities. SAC help develop staff skills in peacebuilding and post-conflict activities including community reconciliation, rehabilitation, and healing. They also work directly with around 1,250 adolescent girls in Banke district who have been excluded from education, and conflict-affected women.

SAC take part in a Participatory Organisational Capacity Analysis Process with 42 other NGOs, and work with various other groups through peace rallies, income generation activities, and providing training.

Youth Mobilization for Peace.

This project was designed to develop the capacity of local stakeholders for solving local problems. SAC works with already existing local youth groups, providing training in human rights, peace-building, and running organisations effectively.

These groups campaign on human rights and peacebuilding issues in their local communities. They also work on documenting conflict victims and determining their immediate and long term needs. SAC uses this information to provide assistance and support for conflict victims. For example, women victims have received assistance in family reunification and income generating activities. Some of the most affected women have also been provided monetary and technical support in establishing their own businesses.
