A Step Away believes that art and culture play a major role in advancing Lebanese society towards peace, justice, and democracy. A Step Away exists to support young artists by promoting the production of contemporary works and providing a space for creative activity. In doing so, A Step Away aims to expand the role of art in promoting the awareness of rights, democracy and social justice.

The Other

The “Other” uses forms of creativity, such as film making, animation, and web design, as an educational tool to promote values of non-discrimination among young people. Through the promotion of diversity, tolerance and non-discrimination, the project aims to tackle the sectarianism that is seen as one the main causes of conflict in Lebanon. It gives young people the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with people of different ethnic & religious backgrounds; involving them in a joint effort to produce art work based on understanding and acceptance of the other.
