Women for Women International provides women survivors of war, civil strife and other conflicts with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable civil societies. Women for Women International currently work in eight different countries affected by conflict. They have a strong commitment to local capacity building and ownership of programmes. With a training centre in Bukavu, South Kivu, Women for Women International’s work has already benefited over 24,000 women in across eastern DR Congo.

These photos, provided by Women For Women International, show their work to empower women in DRC. The policeman in the last photo has been through a training programme on women’s rights and is now an activist for the protection of women.
