The Afghan Women Skills Development Centre (AWSDC) was established in 1999 by a group of committed Afghan women, with the aim of reducing the suffering of Afghan women and children through promotion of peace and initiation of rehabilitation and development projects. AWSDC exists to reinforce the sustainable development process of Afghan women and children. They want to empower Afghan women and enhance their capacities through education and training so that they can contribute to the process of sustainable development and peace in Afghanistan.

Goals & Objectives

  • To build the capacity of women through skill development in the partner communities to establish their own businesses in order to play their desired role in their family and society
  • To address violence against women by providing shelter to victims of violence
  • To advocate Women Human Rights issues at local, national and international level through workshops, seminars with active involvement of all the potential networking partners including Government line departments (law makers, judiciary, law enforcing agencies), NGOs etc
  • To build peace and harmony among the partner communities through seminars, training and workshops
  • To educate girls and women through community-based education schools to increase literacy rate in the target area with active involvement of the communities
  • To work as a liaison or networking organisation among those organisations having similar objectives to those of the organisation (AWSDC) especially that address Women Human Rights issues
  • To develop human resources by providing training opportunities to volunteers and interns in order to get good employment opportunities.
