Through INSEC's involvement at the national level and its high level influence, this initiative seeks heighten civil society's influence on all involved in the interim government (political parties and former Maoist cadres) to foster a culture of respect for human rights.

Description

This ongoing initiative fosters and promotes a culture of human rights and democracy through state mechanism. It further attempts to strengthen the civil society alliance for human rights and peace to pressure the government into respecting its human rights obligations.

The peace process in Nepal is fully under way, with an interim government composed of politicians and Maoists. INSEC is one of the national level human rights organisations and it has access to every political party. INSEC has learnt that human rights will be guaranteed in the presence of democracy and peace can only last if human rights are guaranteed. The following will be the achievements of this initiative:
