Uganda Section Added

We have now added the Uganda to the regions covered on Insight on Conflict. Uganda has an important role to play in ensuring peace and security in the Great Lakes region. Bordered by Kenya, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Sudan, violence generated within Uganda has often affected its neighbours and vice versa. The work of local peacebuilding organisations within the country is therefore tremendously important. We also welcome our newest local correspondent, Stephen Oola, who has already added almost 20 Ugandan organisation profiles, with stories soon to follow.

Today August 2, 2010,Stephen oola gave me call discussing with me a possibility of Partnership between Peace Direct and our organisation: Life Concern (LICO).
On behalf of the organisation i welcome the proposal all heartedly. I will share the same information with our Board of directors as we await for the D day.

Well thanks Ruairi for putting this together. The Uganda section looks great. There are a whole range of peace builders in some of the remotest part of the country working under very difficult circumstances-but with huge impacts to resolve some very intriguing locally generated conflicts which have potentials to escalate into full blown armed insurgencies. Such organisations are often difficult to notice or have access but they will soon get out here; thanks to Peace Direct. Local peacebuilders in Uganda are very enthusiastic to share their experiences and work with other peacebuilders and this section provides an opening for this much desired partnerhip.
